Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year whishes Aamgard Engineering
Call it a day and one week off - yippee-yay and see you next year.
ECUs are like a Box of Chocolates...
You never know what you're gonna get. A breakout box could help! Also called monitoring box, test box, I/O-expander or, simply, BoB. BoB warmly lays his heart to your hands. Or better to say: The heart of the ECU.
Usually for test purposes, breakout boxes are switched between an electronic control unit or a datalogger and the belonging wiring loom with its sensors, actuators etc. The test box allows in-situ electric measurements at that unit without disassembling of connectors or interventing the electric harness. Furthermore, data busses (e.g. CAN, RS232, USB) can be analysed easily. Depending by the exact make of the BoB, ECU inputs and outputs can be disconnected and independend test signals injected.
Aamgard Engineering build bespoken breakout boxes to customer requirements. We also provide standardised BoBs and adapters for many autosport, aerospace, automotive and industrial connectors.
Since 10 Years at the Rally Dakar: FIA Rear Lights from Aamgard Engineering

Adaptor Loom for the Bosch MS4 Engine Control Unit
At the one end the 81- and 40-pin Bosch connectors for the time-honoured MS4 ECU itself. At the other end a 66-pole Deutsch bulkhead connector to join the actual engine loom, two FEP automotive connectors for Bosch LSU Lambda sensors, a CAN diagnostics plug and a further autosport connector for a Motec dashlogger.

Tested and Ready for Packing - Aamgard FIA Rain Lights
Starting with inspecting of incoming goods, each Aamgard LED rear lamp needs a lot of single production steps: Fitting the PCBs with LEDs, regulators etc., interim test, building the wiring or connector set, final assembly, cleaning, product labeling, final test, printing the instruction leaflet and packing all together.
Depending on the customer's requirement, every single lamp is measured and certified by light intensity, current consumption and weight: Min. 420cd and max. 550mA resp. 98g are the demands to our FIA rain lights. No other manufacturer gains these data. Since years, this is why the German DTM and many car manufacturers and racing teams put on the AX02 / AX03 products ''made in Duisburg''.

2018 Formula Student Germany in Hockenheim
Since more then fifteen years Aamgard Engineering supports the Formula Student: In the beginning, 2003 with founding of Aamgard Motorsport Service, the FS team of the German RWTH Aachen joined us for suspension design. Up to now, dozens teams worldwide use our products. From starting our partnership with English manufacturer KA Sensors all Formula Student teams get a general discount at sensors, rear lights or electronic modules.
In two weeks at the Hockenheimring it starts again: From August 6th - 12th, more then one hundred teams from all-over the world will show the results of their work at the title=" to Formula Student Germany "> German Formula Student contest.
From the Workbench: Sensor Harness for Motec Datalogger
The instrumentation loom is build to internal specification "AE_KabSpec_1.7", so featuring temperature resistancy up to 105°C, high vibration resistancy and durability against usual motorsport fuels and fluids.
Employed are vibration proof and flame-retardant automotive wires (ISO 6722) with cross sections of 0.22mm² (AWG24) and Polyolefin-based MIL heat shrink materials. The loom on its gross leg has a diameter of 6.8mm and will finally weight ca. 420g.

Metal Detector / Oil Contamination Sensor for Gearboxes and Engines
The KA Sensors KOCS combines an oil temperature sensor with a metal detector for sensing ferromagnetic materials in engine or gearbox lubricants. With this oil contamination sensor, the metallic erosion inside combustian engines, gearboxes, oil pumps etc. can be monitored and emerging defects at cylinder liners or gear wheels recognized, before they come to secondary damages.
33 Years ago in Le Mans: Class Victory of the Spice Tiga Cosworth
The Spice-Tiga GC85 has been build in Winter 1984/85. With the drivers Gordon Spice and Ray Bellm this car gained the C2 class victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours 1985. In the same year the Team Spice Engineering also won the FIA Group C2 World Endurance Championship with this very car (chassis number 279).
2012-2015 the original car has been fully rebuild by the classic car specialist Brunn Racing. Aamgard Engineering supplied new sensors and electric harnesses, as well as steering wheel and dashboard in classic style.
