New Life in that Old Cat: Jaguar C-Type
When a car gets on age, problems with electrics are not far off: But this replica of a classic 1954 Le Mans Jaguar C-Type only came with a rough bunch of wires and connectors. Our customer fully restored suspension, engine and bodywork - renewal of the electrics and wiring looms was something, he prefered to leave it our duty.
From the electrics point of view, such a car is simple: Lighting front and rear, single ignition coil with mechanical distributor, starter, DC alternator. The dashboard only contains few switches and gauges. More intriguing became the 50th-style vibrating point dc voltage regulator. For it, we had to consult several classic car internet forums to get advise how to deal with it. But eventually the pussycat purred as desired - literally: The mesmerizing sound of the mechanic voltage regulator is something very special...
Adapter Cables for Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensors
In motorsports usually type K thermocouples are used for exhaus gas temperature sensing. They have to be connected by so-called 'compensation cables', standard copper wires would falsify the measurement result. To connect them to ECUs without special thermocouple connectors we build suitable extensions and adapter cables. Here, the ECU had connectors of type Binder 712, the cold junction compensation is done inside the control unit.
Connector Box made with 3D Printing
When we purchased our first 3D printer the idea was to build construction space pattern parts, some utillities and small tools. But soon we realised, that also printing of field parts is a feasible option. Five years ago the Superseal housing of our TipFlash module was the first serial part which has been manufactured on our own printer.
Meanwhile we build housings, connection boxes or mechanical adapters by 3D printing on regular base. Print materials are PLA for non-structural sample parts and temperature resistant materials like GTP or PA-Nylon for in-car components.
Hermetic Tank Connector for Porsche 962 Group C Sports Prototypes
Genuine new connectors of the hermetic KPSE MIL-spec series are nearly no longer available for civil use. They have been the standard conectors for the tank assembly of the Porsche 962 or other Group C prototypes of the 80th. We suggest our customers the conversion to modern fuel-resistant Autosport connectors. Since the tank connector is continuously submerged by slightly pressurized fuel, a hermetic and gas-tight connector is strictly required.
Safety first - we would be pleased to offer a retrofit for your fuel tank system to modern fuel-tight Autosport connectors. Please simply send an e-mail.
Flat Screen TV: Motec C1812 12-Zoll Dashlogger
Is it still data logging or a kind of drive-in cinema? Motec dashlogger C1812 with extra-wide 12 inch display - razor sharp and always everything in focus.
And Now Something Totally Different - Wiring Loom for a Camper Van
Technically on the easy side, but something we had on our workbench for the very first time: A wiring loom for a camper van. The electric harness contains only numbered automotive style Faston connectors with 6.3mm contacts. But the customer was happy to find someone who was able to fabric to his exact dimensions, even with that very long strands.
Porsche 962 Wins Historic Grand Prix in Paul Ricard
Marcel Fäsler (Schweiz) and Gerard Lopez (Luxembourg) won both heats of the Grand Prix de France Historique in Le Castellet at April 26th/27th. Also on track: New vehicle electrics from Aamgard Engineering. The restoration of the Porsche 962C took more than one year - and it was worth the efforts. We are pleased, to have contributed to this great success with our wiring looms, refurbished dashboard and miscellaneous electric and electronic bits and bobs.
Momo Racecar Steering Wheel with Integrated Motec SLM Shift Light
Thanks to our capabilities in 3D printing we can build bespoken steering wheel assemblies for many motorsport steering wheels from Momo or other manufacturers - as well one-offs as in small batches. Even integration of existing electronic modules, like the shown popular Motec shift light, most times is no problem.
Spec44 and Spec55: Teflon Wires from Raychem
Even if we prefer aviation spec 5Y-/5YR materials with temperature ranges above 200°C: Sometimes it also may be Raychem...
Head Light Wiring Set for the Front Bodywork of a Porsche 962
Requests regarding new cablings of Group C sports prototypes and especially about Porsche 962 we get on regulary base. Here, after an accident a new lighting loom for the front bodywork was required. The problem: The MIL connector as used in the works 962 build end of the 80th is no longer available in Europe. Due to this very common problem, we prefer to switch to modern Autosport connectors from Souriau or Deutsch for our project cars.
But here this was no option. The genuine electric system was in very good shape, so it was intended to stay. The solution: Purchasing of the connector in England. But thinking of England what very often is to take into account: Final costs of duties and bureaucracy are higher then the costs of the component itself...
